An Iowa native, and Miss Iowa-USA 1997, Shawn Diddy has supported independent film in various capacities from wardrobe and art department to production and acting. She has played diverse lead roles in independent films including the congenial shelter owner in the children’s feature Operation Dalmatian (2000), a driver in LA Street Race (2017), a short featured in the Los Angeles Dances with Filmsfestival,and a cop-turned-killer in The Offering (2009),a feature-length thriller shot in Iowa.
You may recognize Shawn from national commercials, print ads and billboards (Blue Buffalo, iwireless, Whirlpool, Conair, Capillus) or as the host of infomercials. She hosted a cooking show with Chef Emeril Lagasse (Food Network/ Scripps) and has been on QVC, HSN, Amazon and other shopping channels as a host and lifestyles expert. She’s also been on CBS, NBC, ABC and HBO as an actor.
After earning a master’s degree in Mass Communications from Towson University, Shawn won both a Telly Award and Communicator Award as a health reporter. She was on the board of Women In Film and Video of Maryland and continues to support filmmakers and actors as a mentor and teacher.
Shawn’s held lead roles on stage from coast to coast and stopped in Fairfield, Iowa to play Mrs. Darbus in “Disney’s High School Musical”and the lead in “Music Most Foul”with Way Off Broadway Theater Company in 2009. Diddy also spent time with hit songwriters on Nashville’s Broadway stages where she recorded a CD titled “Girl Most Likely To”.
While living in Los Angeles, Shawn served as red carpet host for various film premieres and festivals including HollyShorts. Shawn Diddy lives in Fairfield and is working toward a PhD at Maharishi University of Management. She has one daughter, May Diddy (an actor), and a spoiled black cat named Binx.
